The main terrain database is the Monterey database by Multigen, Inc. The graphics model of the Comanche helicopter is also from Multigen.
The RIPTIDE out-the-window graphics and GUI code was written in C using the Performer API while the Head Up Display (HUD) was written in C using Open GL calls.
This image is a screen shot of the RIPTIDE simulation screen. The single available monitor can be divided into up to 3 separate windows plus a removable graphical user interface. Each window can use one of 6 available eyepoints, namely:

For handling qualities evaluations, several of the ADS-33 maneuver sites have been implemented in the RIPTIDE terrain database. The sites were modeled using Designer's Workbench from Coryphaeus Software, Inc. This image shows the Comanche helicopter hovering over the ADS-33 hover turn site.
This image shows the helicopter hovering over one of the two airports available in the Monterey database.
